President Vladmir Putin of Russia invades Ukraine to gain that territory that he thinks belongs to Russia. Thousands have died, and even more misplaced due to this conflict. Did Ukraine threaten Russia? No, they did not but he still felt it best to start a war with them. This conflict shows a modern example of people wanting to spread their ideals forcefully without thinking of the consequences. Similarly, The Vietnam War resulted from a clash of ideals. The books I read for my pairings blog detail this war with “Red Blood, Yellow Skin” showing the account of a first-hand survivor and “Nothing Ever Dies” discussing the aftermath and how the war affected the human condition. Both authors present their conversations with the use of excellent rhetorical strategies showing their writing competence.
